SMSF Structure

The ATO suggests that an SMSF be set up with a corporate trustee as the SMSF trustee. Although not a requirement if there is more than 1 member, there are benefits in doing so.

A. The directors and shareholders of the SMSF trustee are the members of the SMSF.

The corporate trustee does not have an ABN or TFN and is registered with ASIC as a special purpose company.

B. The SMSF is registered with the ATO and has an ABN and TFN.

A bank account is opened in the SMSF. All transactions to do with the SMSF should flow through this account.

All business activity happens via the SMSF entity and is reported on and audited annually.

At C2 Super, we aim to make moving from your previous SMSF administrator or accountant as seamless as possible.

If you are ready to move your SMSF onto our platform, please email us at [email protected] or call 02 8098 0300 and we will send you the relevant form to complete.

Once we have this information, we will contact you with further instructions with a detailed list of documentation required to enable us to assist you.

There is no transfer fee payable to move your SMSF onto our platform. We will get in touch with your previous administrator or accountant and request the information that we need. If there is information that we cannot source via this channel, we will request directly from the SMSF trustees.

You can also keep any existing bank accounts, trading accounts, property managers or other relevant service providers that you so wish.
